Hey all. First, this distribution is very exciting. Second, i'm running a 75 mhz system with 24mb ram and a 500 mb harddrive, floppies only. I've got a few other mini distributions installed, namely hal91 and blueflops. i've got them configured on grub, which i had to figure out on my own, and which i'm rather proud of, because it actually works. when i installed deli i opted for no lilo configuration because i figured i would use grub until i figure out how to use deli well enough to wipe out the other systems. now i'm trying to get grub to boot the thing...and i don't know which files to point to for initrd and/or the kernel. which files do i use?

all right, got it fixed. a quick email response helped, and browsing around other grub menu.lst files posted on other forums. I wasn't entirely clear that every entry required a kernel and an initrd entry, plus a root= option appended to the kernel part. i can boot now to a CLI. sweet!

Is it possible you will share the CLI settings with us, as I am facing the same problem.
I do not know how to retrieve the settings I need GRUB to boot the DeLi kernel. My mandrake is installed on HDc7 and my DeLi is installed on HDa5.
I have tried by the way a LiLo install, but it did not work as Lilo was not able to remove GRUB. So i prefer GRUB to prevent damaging my MBR.
Any suggestions ?

There are two options that I have found recently and have not tested with DeLI yet, but are very promising: SuperGrubGAGIf you find it useful (you or any other user) I would be thankful if you keep me informed about the results, since I am very much interested.

Tnx Taurozen, but not helping much as they speak on general use of these utilities. I need some more specific data on my DeLi 0.7.2, like: -where and in what directory is the default kernel placed (2.4.33.4.img) ? -what options needed? -do i need to boot vmlinuz as well? -what options I need for booting this kernel ? I tried LiLo on floppy and this worked for a short time and crashed (very sensitive for errors). Grubs however keeps on performing, also on floppy. So I will stay with grub. _______________ In a world of Linux, who needs Windows and Gates.

The default kernel is /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.34.4, vmlinuz is just a link You can adapt the options from /etc/lilo.conf

I noticed Grub 0.93 has a small flaw: Editing/adapting the boot menu straight after GRUB starting up doesn't work. Booting from the adapted menu.lst file (/boot/grub/menu.lst) does work. The total command line for Grub is with me (on the 5th partition on the primary HD): kernel (hd0,4)/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.34.4 root=/dev/hda5 devfs=mount acpi=ht resume=dev/hda5 You will have to adapt your hd settings in grub according to your situation. Tnx for all your input. B.P. _______________ In a world of Linux, who needs Windows and Gates. « Last edit by bpm on Thu Jul 05, 2007 10:55 am. »

Hi. I'm having problems booting Deli at the moment. When I boot up from cold and try to select Deli, I get this message; Error 18; Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS but, oddly, only if I boot from cold. If I reboot from Windows or from another distro I've got on there, Deli (which is on the final partition on my hard drive) seems to start up fine. Any idea why this could be? Thanks in advance, Colonel Panic.

A brief update; I've deleted my troublesome partition and reinstalled Deli, further back on my hard drive, and so far have had no further problems.
